Our Owl B2 EasyCast Mini Gel System provides the most flexibility in a very small footprint. The longer gel length and the 2 comb slots give you the flexibility of running 8 to 48 samples on 1 gel. The optional multi load tray can increase the maximum number of samples to 108 in a multichannel pipette format. The simple to use casting method, and multiple comb and tray options, makes this Owl’s most popular system.

Owl offers a wide range of combs. The 2 comb slots on the U.V. Transmissible (UVT) gel tray, double your sample capacity by doubling the number of sample wells. Heavy duty, one piece combs eliminate comb assembly. UVT gel trays are silk screened with a florescent ruler for easy measurement of bands. This system is available with optional buffer exchange ports, catalog number B2-BP, for use with an external recirculation pump.

B2 Gel Casting Instructions
Casting with Owl's EasyCast™ Gel Casting System
1. Place UVT gel tray in buffer chamber in the casting position. Gaskets will form a seal against the walls of the chamber.
2. Pour warm (<60°) agarose onto tray and set combs in the desired comb slot(s).
3. Once solidified, turn the tray 90 degrees to the running position, remove combs, add buffer, load samples and run the gel.

B2 Sample Gel
A 1% SeaKem® Gold agarose gel (BMA Cat. No. 50150) in 1X TBE, pH 8.2 and 0.5ug/mL ethidium bromide, using an Owl Gel Casting Array with 24 tooth combs.Samples consisted of 1-10Kb DNA size marker (BMA Cat. No. 50471) in the odd wells and a 500bp DNA ladder (BMA Cat. No. 50323) in the even wells. Both sample at a concentration of appoximately 25ng/band adjusted for well volume. The gel was run for approximately 60 minutes at 7V/cm Data provided by BioWhittaker Molecular Applications, Inc.
